You go, ghoul.
This guy came to the manor last year apparently in search of nourishment. You’ll find him in the 2024 Haunt… snacking on trick-or-treaters. An Ultra-Poseable 5’ skellie from Home Depot, he’s got re-molded upper arms, torso, and skull pieces covered in withered skin, giving him a still-decaying look.
I call him Skinny Pete.
He’s also got pretty slick yellow leds for eyes (instead of the typical red) as well as one in the roof of his mouth. He’s certainly got a creepy look, and the additional poseability is definitely a huge plus.
While the sculpt and initial paint application is pretty decent, I wanted to spice it up a bit as soon as I brought him home. I started with an all-over water-based wood stain, applied very liberally then wiped off the raised areas, leaving it to pool in the recesses. This went a long way to giving Pete more depth, even under haunt lighting.
As-new at the top, wood stain step done on the pelvis & legs.
Next I applied a watered-down acrylic sickly green, focusing on some of the recesses this time. This (and all paint used for this project) is just a super cheap Walmart craft paint. A bone white was sponged across the bare bones, and a bit of a light, fleshy tan was sponged onto the skin. In both cases I dipped the sponge in the paint, dabbed most of it off on a piece of cardboard or paper towel, then dabbed it onto Pete, focusing on the raised areas.
Green wash at various recesses.
The tears in the skin had a slight pink hue from the factory that I really liked. I reinforced this with a pastel pink craft paint, again watered-down and layered until I liked it.
This guy’s clearly gotta have blood-splattered teeth. Obviously.
A few layers of clear acrylic satin coat seals everything in, and Skinny Pete is ready to eat!
